We all face troubles, trials, temptations, sorrow, unsurety and even doubt regarding many situations in our lives. But God has given us all a measure of faith … Romans 12:3 says “….. God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. The grace of God teaches us, speaking generally, is to live godly, sober, and righteous lives and to deny everything contrary to that. So when we became a part of His family through trust, belief, acceptance and forgiveness, He also imparted in each of a a “measure of faith” so that we can build on that principle and be led by His Holy Spirit to live according to His Will.
Then there are those times when that faith is shaken … be it through loss of a job, the death of a loved one or health problems. Surely those circumstances test our faith to the point of feeling like it is going to break. Sometimes we may wonder how can we go on when everything looks so wrong … delinquent bills, troubled family relation- ships, wars and starvation around us; the list seems to go on forever. Sometimes we may ponder how to approach someone and tell them about the goodness of God and the wonderful gift of salvation that He offers when we are “growing through”. The spectrum is very broad on how, when and where we stand on our faith and trust God.
Jesus told the Disciples, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” Matthew 17:20.
We have in us the power, through faith, to overcome those obstacles that stand in our way; we have power to see and move through those walls that block our view or block us from getting to know what God has for our lives. Even when we can’t see the whole picture … the future, God has it all in control. We don’t have to see. We only have to trust in Him and build on the foundation of faith that He has placed in each one of us.
There’s an old phrase that goes “it’s easier said than done” and that could very well be true. But we don’t have the supernatural ability to say things and then they happen; we have to work at it to get it done. It’s a struggle sometimes, trust me, I know. But for anything worth having or fighting for, any goal we hope to reach in our lives is going to take work. Sometimes it may be so hard that we may think it can never happen. But with that mustard seed faith and trusting God in His perfect timing and according to His Will, it can and will happen.
I encourage you today to stand on the faith that God has given you, no matter how dark or bleak it seems right now. Trust in His timing to accomplish His will in your life. He knows everything you are going through, everything that you are facing, He knows that it is a struggle, but His Word tells us in 1 Samuel 12:22 that He will not forsake us.
“Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.” Psalm 27:14
